Primrose family. It grows in Europe near bodies of water and in shaded forests. It ascends from the foothills to the subalpine zone.
Perennial plant with an unbranched stem that can rise 10-30 cm above the ground. The leaves are larger and broader than those of the moneywort. Yellow solitary flowers on long pedicels appear in May and bloom until July.
