Tolmachev's honeysuckle
Lonicera tolmatchevii
Family Caprifoliaceae. Named in honor of the botanist who discovered it in the wild. This rarest species of honeysuckle, listed in the Red Book, blooms in mid-May and occurs only on a small area in the valley of the Tym River on Sakhalin.
It had not been cultivated in the botanical garden, since the first encounter with this plant in the wild occurred when, in place of the flowers, there were already ripe black ellipsoidal fruits with dark-purple bracts and black bracteoles.
