Fruit trees
Chamisso's honeysuckle
Lonicera chamissoi Bunge
Family Caprifoliaceae. From Kamchatka and the northern coast of the Sea of Okhotsk to the southern Kuril Islands and Japan, on forest edges and in scattered patches in the undergrowth of stone birch, and also in forests of Gmelin larch, grows a low, compact shrub not exceeding 1 m in height — Chamisso's honeysuckle (L. chamissoi).
It is noticeably different from other species not only by its low stature, but also by its bluish, rounded-tipped leaves, light gray bark, and dark purple flowers that adorn the shrub for almost a month — from mid-May to mid-June. Large, fused, nearly transparent, light-red fruits ripen beginning in the second half of June. In addition to seeds it can be propagated by cuttings, whose rooting percentage reaches 70%. The shrub can be used for borders and low hedges.
