Caprifolium honeysuckle
Lonicera caprifolium
Appearance: liana, length 2-5 m, width 0.5-2 m, stem diameter 0.5-3 cm, initially slow-growing, after three years medium- or fast-growing, 40-80 cm per year.
Flowers: tubular, white or creamy-yellow with red streaks, in clusters, borne on the upper fused leaves, emits a strong sweet fragrance at night.
Fruits: orange-red, pea-sized, poisonous.
Leaves: elliptic, the upper pair of leaves – fused, dark green above, bluish-green beneath.
Requirements: partial shade/light shade, in sun only with moist soil, prefers warmth, winter-hardy, sensitive to wind.
Soils: fresh or moist, neutral or alkaline, any fertile, well-drained substrates.
