Appearance: large shrub, height 3–4 m, width 1.8–2 m, broad, upright-growing, dense, slow-growing.

Flowers: paniculate inflorescences, June–July.

Leaves: semi-evergreen, elliptic, dark green with a broad yellow margin, bronze-yellow-green in autumn.

Requirements: sun/partial shade, sensitive to frost, a sheltered position.

Soils: well-drained, alkaline, relatively salt-tolerant.
