Family Asteraceae. Native to central China.

Plant up to 150 cm tall. Stems erect, slightly branched. Basal leaves large, reniform, on long petioles. Flower heads yellow, up to 2.5 cm in diameter, numerous, arranged in erect inflorescences. Flowers from July for 35-40 days. Hardy, but preventive mulching and covering in case of a severe winter is recommended. In cultivation since 1900.
