Family: Orchidaceae. It grows in Western Europe, Asia Minor, Greenland.

A plant with a short stem (12–40 cm) and a tuber, palmately divided almost to the base into thin, long segments. Leaves 3–5, oblong, up to 8 cm long. Inflorescence a dense cylindrical multi-flowered spike. Flowers small, whitish or yellowish; bracts lanceolate, shorter than the flowers. Perianth segments are gathered into a bell-shaped helmet, blunt, up to 3 mm long. The lip is slightly longer than the perianth segments, three-lobed, with the middle lobe wider and longer than the lateral ones. Spur short (up to 2.5 mm), blunt. Ovary sessile, twisted, considerably longer than the perianth. Flowers in June–July. Occurs as single specimens or in small groups; significant aggregations are rare.
