Family Campanulaceae. Grows in the Caucasus, in Western Siberia, in Southern and Central Europe and Asia Minor.

Stems erect, up to 80 cm high. Leaves large ovate-oblong, gathered in a basal rosette and along the stem. Flowers bell-shaped, 6-8 cm long and 5-6 cm in diameter, light blue and blue. Blooms in June–July. Produces abundant fruit. Easily propagated by seeds, sown into the ground in autumn. Not demanding regarding soils, drought-tolerant, grows in open sites but tolerates some shade. Used in landscaping and provides good cut-flower material.
