Herbs
Laguras ovate
Lagurus ovatus
Family: grasses. One of the most charming and popular grasses with white fluffy soft panicles (inflorescences). An annual 15 - 60 cm tall, with numerous stems. The panicles are very dense, ovate, 1.5 - 4.0 cm long and 1 - 2 cm wide. Blooms in July - August.

Location: cold-hardy, moisture-loving, grows in sun and partial shade.
Care: after planting out or thinning, plants should be fed with nitrogen fertilizers 2-3 times at intervals of 7-10 days, then with a complete balanced fertilizer 1-2 times at the same interval. Watering in dry weather is essential. With good, proper care especially large panicles develop, and one plant may have many of them.
Propagation: by seed; to obtain 100 plants you need 0.1 - 0.3 g. Sow directly into the ground in May. To obtain vigorous early-flowering plants, it is advisable to sow the seeds in pots at the beginning of April and place them in a bright spot. Seedlings appear after 10-12 days. When planting out, sowing, or thinning, the distance between plants should be 10-15 cm.
Use: Laguras is decorative in a mixed border, on a rockery, but is especially attractive in dried bouquets and arrangements. For drying, the inflorescences are cut soon after flowering, because when they finish flowering they acquire a dirty shade. They are dried in a dry room in bunches or spread out in a thin layer. Dried inflorescences retain their decorative appearance for many years.
