Family Juncaceae. Native to the mountains of Southern Europe. A tufted, dark-green plant. Basal leaves up to 90 cm long and 15 mm wide. Two to four flowers are borne at the ends of the branches of a loose, paniculate inflorescence. An evergreen plant, it flowers in April–May. The numerous flowers are bright white. Prefers moist, shady places.
