Appearance: a small shrub 0.8-1.5 m in height and width, many shoots but few branches, forms thickets from suckers, shoots green, medium- to fast-growing.

Flowers: when the leaves are opening, bright saucer-shaped flowers, late April - early May, sometimes with repeat flowering.

Fruits: inconspicuous.

Leaves: ovate-lanceolate, pointed, early-emerging, bright green, in autumn – yellowish-green.

Root system: shallow, wide.

Requirements: sun/partial shade, in full sun the flowers fade, relatively winter-hardy, undemanding.

Soils: any, not very heavy.

Note: when fertilized it spreads vigorously, and the number of flowers decreases.
