Family Cruciferae. On dry rocky slopes, among shrubs, in open woodlands, in forest clearings, along the edges of oak groves of the southern temperate zone of Central Europe, the Balkans, southern and south-western Moldova (absent from the lists of the flora of Moldova) and in the Izmail district of the Odessa region.

Leaves broadly or linear-sword-shaped, sometimes falcate. Flowering stem up to 45-50 cm tall, short-branched in the upper part. Flowers 3-6, scentless, bicoloured; outer segments reddish-brown with veins, inner ones yellow. Blooms in late May - early June. Well transmits species characteristics to offspring by seed propagation. In cultivation since long ago.
