Family Asteraceae. Native to the western part of North America.
A perennial rhizomatous plant up to 90 cm tall. Stems erect, branching in the upper part. Leaves oblong-lanceolate, entire, firm, grayish-green. Inflorescences solitary, 8-9 cm in diameter, on long flower stalks. Ray and tubular flowers are yellow. Blooms abundantly in June–July for 30-35 days. Produces fruit. In cultivation since 1900.
