Family Araliaceae Caucasus, Near East. Protected in a number of Caucasus nature reserves. In floodplain and low-mountain deciduous forests on fertile soils. Shade-tolerant mesophyte. Listed in the Red Book of the USSR.

Evergreen liana up to 10 m. In the GBS since 1976. Represented by living plants from the Caucasus and by the vegetative propagation of the GBS. At 3 years shoot length 1.2 m. Vegetates from 15.V11 to 19.Х+11 for 157 days. Does not flower. Partially freezes back in winter. When treated with a 0.01% solution of IMK, 80% of cuttings root. Ornamental. Recommended for landscaping in the Moscow region.
