Appearance: a large or medium shrub, 3-5 m tall and wide, open (lacy), with branches always directed upwards, relatively fast-growing.
Flowers: valued for its flowering periods (which is why it received the name «magic nut», since one species blooms in early spring, others – in late autumn), petals are elongated like threads, flowers are fragrant, withstand frosts down to -10°С.
Fruits: small brown capsules, remain on the plant for a long time.
Leaves: resemble alder leaves, slightly asymmetrical, pale green, with magnificent autumn coloration in all shades of yellow, orange and red.
Root system: surface-rooted, sensitive to compaction.
Requirements: sun/partial shade, winter-hardy, warmth-loving, tolerant of urban conditions.
Soils: from fresh to wet, sensitive to drought, tolerates substrates from acidic to alkaline, avoid lime.
