Yezo Povodnik
Habenaria yezoensis
Family Orchidaceae. The Yezo Povodnik grows in the bogs of Kunashir (the Kuril Islands), Japan.
Plants 25–50 cm tall with ellipsoid tuberous roots; 6–7 leaves are concentrated in the lower part of the stem, they are linear-lanceolate, 6–11 cm long and 4–6 mm wide. Inflorescences up to 10 cm long composed of 2–8 rather small flowers. Bracts herbaceous. Outer perianth segments white, lateral ones about 5 mm, asymmetrical, the median one oval. The lip greenish, three-lobed, about 10 mm long, with a spur up to 1.5 cm, its lobes oblong-lanceolate. Ovary on a short stalk, twisted. Blooms in August.
