Family Proteaceae. Native to Australia, New Zealand, and the islands of the Malay Archipelago. About 260 species in the wild. For propagation of Grevillea, only fresh seeds are used, as they quickly lose viability.
Grevillea Banks' - Grevillea banksii - a tree-like shrub several meters tall. Young shoots are covered with fine, dense hairs. Leaves twice-pinnately dissected, about 20 cm long. Each segment is narrowly lanceolate in shape, green above and covered below with fine reddish-brown hairs. Bright red flowers are gathered in racemose inflorescences. Pedicels and perianths are also covered with small, dense, fluffy hairs. The ovary is covered with pubescence.
