Flowers for the garden
Goodyera
Goodyera
Family: orchids. Name: in honor of the English botanist J. Goodyer (17th century).
Most species of the genus are found in cold and temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere, in tropical Asia and on the Mascarene Islands. Gardeners value Goodyera for the striking pattern on the leaves; in the wild specimens with strongly pronounced light venation can be found. They are cultivated as ornamental foliage plants. Grown in shade, with adequate moisture, on turf-humus-coniferous soil.
