Gloxinia
Gloxinia
Family: Gesneriaceae. Origin: South America.
Gloxinia (correct name: синингия) is a tuberous plant with delicately velvety leaves and bell-shaped flowers of various colors. One of the most striking flowering houseplants.
Velvety flowers reach 7 cm in diameter and more; flower colors are white, pink, red, blue, purple. The plant requires high air humidity, no drafts, regular feeding and careful watering. синингия grows only in spring and summer; in autumn all leaves die back, and winter is a period of complete dormancy. Therefore in winter the tubers are covered with dry sand, not watered and kept in a dry cool place.
