Family Rosaceae. Native to the Caucasus, the Balkans, Asia Minor, Greece.
Perennial herbaceous plant 35-40 cm tall. Stems erect, pubescent. Stem leaves three-parted. Flowers large, bright red, 3-3.5 cm in diameter, arranged in few-flowered inflorescences. Blooms from the end of May for 30-40 days. The cultivar 'Borizin' is known, flowering from June to September. Winter-hardy.
