Flowers for the garden
Pyrenean geranium or Endrasa
G. endressii
Family Geraniaceae. Came into gardens from the rocks of the Western Pyrenees in the time of Napoleon.
The plant is a herbaceous perennial. Occupies a large area, intertwining into clumps via continuously growing shoots. With vigorous growth it tends to break apart in different directions. Height 30-50 cm. Leaves on long petioles, light green, pubescent, broad, up to 10 cm, five-lobed. Flowers rather small, 2.5 cm in diameter, light pink with darker veins, with a pearly sheen. The geranium Endrasa begins to flower in early June, flowering for a long time, until August. Seeds ripen in August, and in early October, with the onset of frosts, the leaves die back.
Propagated by division of the clump in spring or late summer and by seeds. The plant is light-loving. It requires well-drained rocky or sandy soils. Drought-tolerant. This geranium looks excellent in rockeries, where its graceful flowers are especially attractive against stones. Interesting for container planting
