Common ash, weeping form

Appearance: a medium-sized tree, height 8–15 m, width 8–10 m, domed crown, long branches hanging to the ground, striking as a solitary planting.

Flowers: yellowish-green inflorescences, May.

Fruits: winged, often persist on the branches throughout the winter.

Leaves: odd-pinnate, green, emerge late.

Root system: deep, wide, sensitive to compaction.

Requirements: sun/partial shade, winter-hardy, tolerant of urban conditions.

Soils: relatively dry or fresh, does not tolerate excess moisture, prefers fertile alkaline substrates.
