Flowers: inconspicuous.

Fruits: brown, winged, remain on the tree until the following spring.

Leaves: emerge late, pinnate with five leaflets, green, usually lack autumn coloration, sometimes yellow, and fall after the first night frosts.

Root system: deep, wide, sensitive to soil compaction.

Requirements: sun/partial shade, winter-hardy, tolerant of urban environments.

Soils: relatively dry or fresh, does not tolerate excess moisture, prefers fertile, alkaline substrates.
