Family Iridaceae. Name: in honor of the Italian botanist of the 17th century Ferrari (Ferrari).
Description: perennial bulbous-cormous plants. Stem erect, 15-30 cm tall, leafy, densely branched in the upper part. Leaves glaucous, upper ones reduced, ovate, lower ones linear. Flowers several, in a floral bract. Corm-bulb large, irregular in shape.
Two to three species occur in tropical and southern Africa. The genus is close to Tigridia; cultivation is similar.
