Family Iridaceae A tall-growing plant, stem up to 65 cm, strongly branched.

Flower bell-shaped, 4-5 cm in diameter, fragrant. The tube of the flower is white, with orange-yellow spots at the base, the perianth segments are nearly equal, pink-purple. There are forms with red, lilac and bluish flowers. Blooms late. The species is named after W. Armstrong, who sent the bulbs of this species to England from South Africa.
