Eupomatia laurina
Eupomatia laurina
Family: Eupomatiaceae. Native to Australia. An evergreen shrub with leathery, glossy green leaves, the underside of which is lighter with a beautiful silky sheen. Leaves alternate, simple, with short petioles.
Petiole clearly transitions into the conspicuous midrib of the leaf. Leaf blade elliptically elongated. Shoots flexible, resemble shoots of Griselinia, the shrub is spreading. Propagated by green cuttings.
The location for Eupomatia should be bright and moderately warm. Do not allow the root ball to dry out. Repot every 2 years. In spring, fertilize with a complete fertilizer. If desired, prune the shrub or shape it. The soil mix is made from leaf, turf and humus soil with the addition of sand (1:1:1:0.5).
In hydroponic culture on expanded clay it grows well in an LTA-2 solution. In winter, a less concentrated solution should be used. When arranging interiors, place it singly or in groups.
