Family Poaceae. The inflorescences of this miniature tropical grass have a very unusual shape - they are split into several parts. At the top of the stem there are from one to eleven spikelets, which spread out in a fan in all directions.

Shoots, not exceeding 30 cm in height, constantly regrow from the plant's roots, which spread a long distance underground. However, a Karakan population is instantly killed by the first frosts, so it cannot become a persistent weed.
