Family: Dryopteridaceae. China, Japan, the Philippines.
Height and spread 45-60 cm. Generally considered hardy only in protected ground. It is an evergreen plant. Its broadly triangular, bipinnate fronds have a light-copper coloration when young and later become dark green. Leaves are grouped in tufts, bi- to tri-pinnate, evergreen. Sori with reddish indusia. Not sufficiently frost-hardy; in winter in the temperate zone a cover of conifer boughs is necessary.
