Temperature: Summer 18-25, winter 10-12°C.
Light: Variegated forms of dracaena, including драцена биколор, require good lighting, unlike the all-green forms, which successfully grow and retain their decorative appearance even on north-facing windows. In winter, драцена биколор should be moved closer to the window. It responds well to additional artificial lighting. With insufficient light the leaves lose their bright coloration.
Watering: Abundant in summer, moderate in winter, taking into account the room temperature. Does not tolerate waterlogging in the pot or drying out of the root ball. Dracaenas are suitable for hydroponic cultivation.
Fertilizer: During the growing season from April to August, dracaenas are fed every two weeks with special complete fertilizers for houseplants.
Humidity: Dracaenas tolerate dry air, but require regular leaf misting when kept in rooms with central heating in winter. Periodically the plant should be given a warm shower to wash off dust and refresh it.
Repotting: In spring every two years. Soil - a mix of heavy turf and leaf soil, well-rotted manure or greenhouse soil with added sand. Dracaena roots are mostly located in the upper soil layer, so use a large drainage layer in the pot.
Propagation: By tip cuttings, layering, or stem sections about 10 cm long
Pests: nematodes, spider mite
Uses: The marginata dracaena is considered an effective plant for purifying air from harmful pollutants, for example, formaldehyde vapors, xylene and trichloroethylene. Dracaena is very sensitive to fluoride.
