Family: Asteraceae. Native range — the Mediterranean.

Stems erect, branched in the upper part, 60–70 cm tall. Leaves ovate, upper ones oblong. Flower heads 4–5 cm in diameter, gathered in corymb-like inflorescences. Ligulate (ray) florets bright yellow, tubular (disk) florets yellow. Blooms in July. Fruits. In cultivation since 1584.
