Dolichos
Dolichos (lat. Dolichos) - annual and perennial herbaceous plants of the legume family (Fabaceae).
Is widespread in many warm regions of Asia and Africa.
Large vines reaching 4-5 m in height, the stem herbaceous, a distinguishing feature is twining the support counterclockwise. Leaves large, heart-shaped, trifoliate, similar to bean and pea leaves, green, slightly purple or purple. Inflorescence — axillary, many-flowered raceme (up to 40 flowers). Flowers large, white, purple and yellow, fragrant.
In cultivation:
Common Dolichos, hyacinth beans — Dolichos lablab
A twining perennial grown as an annual. In cultivation it reaches 3-4 m in height. Leaves large, heart-shaped, trifoliate. Flowers papilionaceous, gathered in racemes, white, raspberry and purple in color. The flowering duration of an entire raceme is up to 20 days; it begins to bloom in July and continues until the frosts. Also decorative are the curved flat beaked pods (up to b cm long), having green or purple coloration.

More striking is the purple cultivar of common Dolichos 'Pink Moon' with bright purple flowers in loose inflorescences and compound dark green leaves with a red sheen on red-purple petioles. Dark burgundy flat pods adorn the plant for a long time in autumn.
Dolichos is used for creating green walls, greening walls, fences, arbors and pergolas.
Location: requires a warm, well-lit place; otherwise it develops poorly and slowly, blooms late or does not bloom at all.
Soil: requires loose and fertile soil, although it can grow in ordinary garden soil provided fertilizers are applied.
Care: supports are necessary; stems are tied and trained. Water moderately, fertilize weekly.
Propagation: by sowing seeds directly in the ground or by seedlings (transplants).
