Family Hydrangeaceae. A natural hybrid of Deutzia (Deutzia motlis x Deutzia discolor). Found in Western and Central China.

Shrub 1-2 m tall, with sparsely pubescent, annual shoots. Branches reddish-brown, with peeling bark. Leaves broadly lanceolate (7x2 cm), finely serrate at the margin, dark green above, gray-white beneath, in semi-umbels. Flowers abundant in June, lasting up to 30 days.

Exceptionally free-flowering shrub (up to 30 days). Used in borders, hedges, solitary and group plantings. In cultivation since 1901.
