Flowers for the garden
Dennstaedtia
Dennstaedtia
Family Dennstaedtiaceae. Medium-sized ferns with long creeping rhizomes, on which finely divided leaves are borne singly. Sori are marginal, small, rounded, with cup-shaped indusia.
They spread easily and reproduce by division of the rhizomes. Dennstaedtias prefer well‑moistened, slightly acidic garden soils in shade and partial shade. Suitable for shady gardens and parks. Can be used as groundcovers. If growth becomes too vigorous, the clump must be restricted, but it is easily uprooted, as the rhizomes lie shallow.
