Daphne mezereum “Rubra Select”
Appearance: a broad, dense, upright-growing small shrub, 1-1.5 m in height and width, medium- or fast-growing, shoots more numerous than those of the original species.
Flowers: numerous, of a rich dark carmine color, late March–April, the fragrance spreads over long distances (25 m!).
Fruits: absent.
Leaves: lanceolate, dark green, green beneath, do not change color.
Root system: deep, sensitive, does not tolerate transplanting.
Requirements: partial shade, prefers cool places with high atmospheric humidity, suffers from high temperatures, wind and very severe frosts.
Soils: from dry to fresh, from acidic to alkaline, prefers humus-rich loams.
