Appearance: a small shrub, up to 1.2 m tall, 1 m wide, strictly upright, short lateral shoots, very slow-growing.
Flowers: numerous, along the upper parts of the shoots, before the leaves open, April, very fragrant.
Fruits: from June, rounded, pea-sized, yellow, very poisonous.
Leaves: lanceolate, dark green, green beneath, in autumn – pale yellow.
Root system: deep.
Requirements: partial shade, prefers cool locations with high atmospheric humidity, winter-hardy.
Soils: from dry to fresh, from acidic to alkaline, prefers humus-rich loams.
