Sickle-shaped Cyrtomium
Cyrtomium falcatum
Family Dryopteridaceae. Perennial herbaceous fern. Native range - the tropics and subtropics of Asia and southern Africa.
In cultivation it is relatively cold-hardy, shade-tolerant, and tolerates dry air well. Leaves pinnate, 35-50 cm long, leaflets alternate, sickle-shaped, curved upward, leathery, with parallel veins. It reproduces by spores (their good germination has been noted in practice). In florist shops one can most often find its cultivated form "Rochfordianum" with single pinnate, toothed, leathery leaves 50 cm long. The upper surface of the leaves is glossy.
