Sedge family. Grows: on the banks of the Nile River.

Stems erect, solid, three-angled, at the ends of which are umbels of thread-like light-green leaves. From the pith ancient Egyptians made papyrus. Papyrus sedge (циперус) папирус is best grown in a greenhouse in shallow water or in the pools of winter gardens.
