Leyland cypress «Variegata» – an attractive form of Leyland cypress. It is a medium-tall, fast-growing tree with a symmetrical narrowly conical or columnar crown. Annual growth reaches 40 cm per year.

Foliage scaly, dark green with creamy-yellow tips.

Cones small, rounded, up to 1 cm in diameter, with 8 scales, under which there are 5 small seeds with tiny protuberances.

Hardiness zone: 6-9

Location: not demanding to soil, but grows well on nutrient-poor, fresh, acidic or alkaline soils. Recommended soil pH 5.5-8. Drought- and wind-resistant, tolerates urban conditions well. Light-loving but shade-tolerant. Foliage scorch in sun is not observed.

Planting: planting density for a hedge – 0.6-0.8 m. When planting, add organic fertilizer 2-3 kg per plant.

Pruning: Pruning is carried out at the end of summer. Sanitary and formative pruning are recommended.

Care: watering is only needed during prolonged drought. In spring a three-component complex fertilizer can be applied (30-50 g per plant).

Diseases and pests: practically not affected by diseases. Rarely attacked by spider mite and wood-borers.

Propagation: propagated by cuttings.

Uses: used to create tall hedges, bosquets, screens and windbreaks. Also looks good in single and group plantings.
