Cryptotaenia japonica
Family: orchids. Distributed in the Far East (in the south of Primorye, in the south of Sakhalin, in the southern Kurils), in China and Japan. Grows in shady floodplain forests and on moist grassy slopes.
Perennial herbaceous plant 30-120 cm tall with thick roots. For ornamental purposes, Cryptotaenia japonica 'Atropurpurea' is used, which is distinguished by dark purple foliage. Blooms in late summer with small pale-pink flowers gathered in lacy panicles. The plant emerges late after winter.
