Family Fabaceae. This unusual plant originates from Southeast Asia.

In countries with a temperate climate it is also cultivated as a perennial, which is often used to decorate winter gardens in warm interiors, because Clitoria cannot tolerate temperatures below 10°C. Recently it has also begun to be cultivated outdoors, transplanting seedlings grown in a warm room to the open air. If Clitoria seeds are sown in winter in February, the flowering period of Clitoria occurs in June. Plants are planted in containers or directly into the ground, placing them near trellises and latticework. In autumn they can be brought back indoors. Clitoria is not easy to obtain, as it is rarely offered for sale. Several cultivars are known, such as 'Blue Sails' with double purple flowers and 'Ultra Marine' with dark blue ones.
