Family Iridaceae. Native range - the Cape Province of South Africa.

Stem 60-70 cm tall. Leaves narrow-linear, 30-35 cm long. Flowers 12-20 in a loose racemose inflorescence, they are bright red with a long tube and very unequal lobes. Stamens reach the upper margin of the lobes of the perianth. Seeds angular, narrowly winged. Corm-bulb rounded, with an elongated neck, large.
