Atlantic white cedar "Top Point"– a dwarf Dutch form of white cedar.

Origin: experts indicate that the cultivar resembles Chamaecyparis thyoides 'Heatherbun', C. thyoides 'Purple Heather' and C. thyoides 'Rubicon'. But Leen Konijn (Ederveen), a conifer specialist, states that the form was discovered in 1985 and is a descendant of Chamaecyparis thyoides 'Andelyensis'.

This is a small shrub 140-150 cm in height and 40-60 cm in width. Annual growth reaches 6-7 cm. The crown is dense, columnar or conical. It lives 60 years and more. Foliage soft, bluish-green, short. In spring the foliage becomes silvery-blue, in autumn – copper-bronze. Cones are small.

Hardiness zone: 4-9

Location: grows best in sunny positions. Prefers acidic soil, but also grows well in neutral soil. Requires moist, well-drained soil, but can tolerate slight flooding and short droughts. Resistant to urban pollution.

Care: requires annual feeding and watering in hot weather.

Pruning: Tolerates pruning well. Both shaping and sanitary pruning are applied.

Pests and diseases: high resistance to diseases.

Uses: looks great in groups and in solitary plantings. Ideal for backdrops, accents, vertical accents, hedging, and rock gardens. Grows well in containers. Can also be used for bonsai.
