Family Campanulaceae. Found in the Carpathians and Central Europe.

This bellflower is a low compact shrub up to 30 cm tall and 30–50 cm in diameter. Stems are thin, branching from the very base, with numerous small basal and stem leaves. Flowers solitary, funnel-shaped to bell-shaped, 3–4 cm in diameter, blue or white. Blooms in June–July. Fruits abundantly in August. Propagated mainly by sowing seeds in the ground in autumn or in cold frames in spring. Produces uniform but very small seedlings requiring careful attention. Grown-on seedlings tolerate transplanting well. Undemanding as to soil, grows in open sunny locations, winter-hardy. Used for creating borders, small plantings, sometimes for cut flowers.
