Flowers for the garden
Камптосорус
Camptosorus
Family Aspleniaceae. There are only two species of small rock ferns with short rhizomes and lanceolate, entire, evergreen fronds with elongated apices.
At the apices there are proliferous buds; when they touch the ground they root and give rise to new plants. Sori are scattered, oblong, slightly curved. Winter-hardy.
Камптосорус grows on shaded, often mossy rocks, as well as on stumps and tree trunks. They prefer limestone substrates, less commonly occurring on sandstones. For cultivation a combination of shade, good moisture (they do not tolerate drought) and drainage is important. Suitable for rock gardens.
