Caladium
Caladium
Family Araceae. Native to South America. There are 15 species in the wild. Leaf edges brown, petioles droop, leaves curl — if it is too cold. The plant does not tolerate temperatures below 16°C and cannot stand drafts.
Two-colored caladium - Caladium bicolor - a herbaceous stemless plant. It has elongated tubers about 10 cm long. Leaves on long petioles, sagittate or lanceolate in shape, up to 30 cm long. Small inconspicuous flowers are gathered in a spadix inflorescence characteristic of all aroids. Many hybrid forms differing in leaf coloration are common in cultivation. Thus, in some the leaf surface is red, in others purely silvery, but in most two-colored, for example silvery with a dark green margin or red with silvery or green speckles.
