Family Solanaceae. Native to South America. About 30 species occur in the wild.
Small-flowered Brunfelsia - Brunfelsia pauciflora - an evergreen shrub up to 1.5 m in height, in the wild a small tree up to 3 m tall. Leaves alternate, borne on short petioles, oval in shape, pointed at the tip, up to 10 cm long. Flowers are small, fragrant, gradually changing color from white to lilac, arranged in sub-umbellate inflorescences. The corolla is five-lobed, about 6 cm in diameter. Fruits are rounded reddish berries.
