Family Acanthaceae. Native to South America. In cultivation only one species - Белопероне капельная Beloperone guttata. In the wild it grows up to 1 meter in height. Stems and leaves are pubescent. Leaves opposite, ovate or oblong-ovate in shape. Bracts are large, up to 20 cm long, drooping in raceme-like clusters of bright red shades. Flowering can continue almost year-round with proper care. As a houseplant, beloperone is easy to grow.
