Beaucarnea
Beaucarnea
Family: Agavaceae. Native to Mexico. Beaucarnea is a houseplant of unusual appearance, commonly called "elephant's foot", and in the literature it may be found under the name Nolina recurvata.
Beaucarnea is considered an easy and fairly undemanding plant to grow. However, this is a relative notion — Beaucarnea requires a winter dormancy period with cool, dry conditions.

Beaucarnea recurvata - has a thick trunk that widens and becomes even thicker toward the base. The stem at first, in a young plant, is short and globular like an onion, then elongates and becomes similar to a pot-bellied bottle. At the top of the stem thin, delicate green leaves are gathered in rosettes, resembling a small palm.
Temperature: Cool conditions; in summer not above 21°C, in winter a resting period at around 10–12°C, but not below 7°C.
Light: Beaucarnea prefers full sun.
Watering: Moderate in spring and summer; limited watering in winter when kept cool, but the watering frequency directly depends on the exact temperature.
Fertilizer: From April to August, Beaucarnea is fed every 2 weeks with liquid fertilizer for houseplants.
