Family Ranunculaceae. Aquatic plants with floating and submerged, or only submerged, leaves.
Habitat: slow-flowing rivers, lakes, marshes, ditches. Eurasia. Leaves variable: either all filiform with many veins, or the lower submerged leaves filiform and many-times divided, while the upper floating leaves are lobed or dissected into broad, various lobes, petiolate or sessile, with false sheaths at the top that are auriculate and clasp the stem. Flowers solitary, white with a yellow claw.
