Flowers for the garden
Eastern ostrich fern
Мatteuccia orientalis
Family Onocleaceae. Grows in coniferous and mixed forests in the southern Kurils, in Japan and China.
Slightly shorter than the common ostrich fern, usually not exceeding 120 cm; the spore-bearing leaves have longer petioles — in them the petioles are longer than the blades, and the pinnules of the sporophylls lack constrictions. Sterile leaves are not narrowed at the base.
